On Saturday, Angelenos gathered at bars all over the city to watch the United States take on England in their first match of the tournament. The Americans came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against England — a good result for the U.S.
Next, the United States will take on Slovenia on Friday, June 18 at 7:00am. The U.S. team’s final group stage game will be Wednesday, June 23, also at 7:00am. If they continue to play well, the U.S. will have a good chance of advancing to the knock-out rounds.
Many bars, like the EB’s and Bar 326 at the Original Farmers Market, and the Village Idiot on Melrose Avenue, will open early for the games, offering a venue for fellow fans to cheer on their countries. The World Cup continues through July 11. For game schedules and information, visit www.fifa.com.
