A pregnant woman and her baby were shot and killed in a drive-by shooting on Wednesday in a neighborhood south of Pico Boulevard, between Robertson and La Cienega Boulevards.
The shooting occurred around 9:15am in the 1900 block of Corning Street. According to Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Richard French, the woman was standing in front of an apartment building when a group of men in a sports utility vehicle drove by and fired several shots. The victim was struck in the upper torso, and was driven by a private party to the Kaiser West Los Angeles Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, according to French.
French said the incident is believed to be gang related, but he did not have any description of the suspects or the vehicle.
