A 27-year-old Los Angeles man suspected of leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen Ranger Rover on May 1 before abandoning the vehicle and jumping off the Santa Monica Pier was charged today with multiple felonies.
Gerjuan Deshon Harmon, 27, is also suspected of burglarizing two UCLA dorm rooms before leading police on a car chase around West Los Angeles.
Harmon, who has several prior burglary convictions, was charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, one count of car theft and one count of felony evading police. He is being held on $265,000 bail.
The pursuit began at 11:30pm shortly after police received a call about a man driving drunk in West Los Angeles. Officers identified the black 2010 Range Rover as having been reported stolen on April 19, officials said. The pursuit wound through Beverly Hills, Inglewood and Santa Monica before the suspect abandoned the vehicle at the Santa Monica Pier.
Harmon allegedly jumped to the beach from the pier and ran into the ocean. He was arrested after wading back to the beach.
