Los Angeles City Councilmember Tom LaBonge, 4th District, had his Silver Lake home burglarized on April 30.

“Like many other people in the City of Los Angeles, unfortunately, my family was the victim of a crime last week,” LaBonge said. “Two burglars broke into our home in Silver Lake and stole some personal items belonging to my wife.”

No one was home, and no one was injured during the burglary.

A neighbor provided a description of the burglars to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Northeast Division and they are investigating.

“This has been a very upsetting event for my family, but it was a property crime.  We were not confronted physically,” LaBonge said.

LaBonge noted a recent surge in crime in the Los Feliz and Silver Lake areas, and encouraged residents to step up neighborhood watch programs. He also said he planned to hold a neighborhood meeting to discuss the issue.
