A 73-year-old woman was killed and an 84-year-old man is now listed in critical condition in what police believe was an attempted murder-suicide Wednesday evening in West Hollywood.
Deputies from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station were summoned to an apartment in the 800 block of N. Kings Road around 7:45pm after receiving a call about a woman screaming. Deputies forced their way inside and found the woman on the floor, suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies then located the male victim in another room. He was suffering from what investigators believe is a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Sgt. Diana Hecht, with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
“There was a weapon recovered at the scene, and they are still investigating the relationship between these to people,” Hecht added.
Hecht said both victims were taken to the hospital, where the female victim was pronounced dead. Hecht did not have any further information about the male victim’s condition, and said neither of the victims’ names were being released. The investigation is being handled by the sheriff’s homicide bureau.
