A 25-year-old Los Angeles man charged with stalking “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest pleaded no contest on March 9 to felony stalking and was sent to prison for a 90-day psychiatric evaluation.
Chidi Benjamin Uzomah Jr. entered the plea before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge John Fisher, said Deputy District Wendy Segall with the Stalking and Threat Assessment Team.
Uzomah was ordered in September to stay away from the radio and TV host after pleading guilty to attacking Seacrest’s security guard outside an Orange County hospital. He was arrested October 30 at the E! building in the 5700 block of Wilshire Boulevard where Seacrest tapes a daily TV show. He also appeared at radio station KIIS FM in Burbank on October 2 looking for Seacrest.
In exchange for his plea to stalking Seacrest between September 15 and October 30, two misdemeanor counts of attempted disobeying a court order on October 2 and October 30 will be dismissed when he is sentenced.
Uzomah returns to court on June 14 for sentencing. He faces up to two years state prison.
