Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Olympic Division arrested a 32-year-old man who allegedly smashed windows on 29 vehicles in Koreatown on Jan. 2.
A witness called police at approximately 9:15 p.m. and reported that a suspect was smashing windows near Fourth and Catalina Streets. Officers arrived and located the suspect, who was identified as William Michael Ramirez, said LAPD spokesman Drake Madison.
Additional incidents also occurred along Third Street between Berendo Street and New Hampshire Avenue. The suspect was identified as a transient in media reports, but Madison said he could not confirm whether the man was homeless.
Ramirez allegedly used a metal saw blade to smash the windows. He was charged on Wednesday with 18 felony counts including one count of assault with a deadly weapon and 17 counts of vandalism of $400 or more. Additionally, Ramirez faces 12 misdemeanor counts of vandalism less than $400.
